The Death Penalty...

A segment on the news reminded me of the whole debate regarding the death penalty. Now they say there is evidence that the death penalty works. I am living proof that it does.

I grew up in the San Francisco bay area, within sight of San Quentin State Prison. I was perfectly content in knowing that if I ever murdered another human being under certain circumstances, I could end up in San Quentin, and in the electric chair. It worked. I never murdered anyone.

What's the problem?

I am ALL FOR the death penalty! I believe more states need it and need to actually use it. States complain about the overcrowding prison population...well, I have a solution! Strap all those lifers to an electric chair. That'll take care of that! I have no heart for those who commit crimes that deserve a life sentence or a death sentence. They got it comin'. And another thing...none of this taking YEARS for re-appeals...just hook them up to the chair within days of the sentence!

Hey, I'm right there with ya, it's just sad it takes 15 years for justice to take place. What really makes me angry is when after that time, all of a sudden they have new evidence and they get a stay!! Not very fair to the victims family. Be Safe and Keep Up The Fight.

It's a little more involved than that.
If the ONLY thing keeping you from murdering someone is the fear you would suffer the same fate than that's a thin excuse indeed: are you saying, if there wasn't a death penalty, you would have undoubtedly killed someone you hated by now? No. Why? Because you have morals, you're mentally fit, you have a conscience.
Plus countries without the death penalty often have lower crime rates than the US. It's more of a societal thing than a 'im afraid of the death penalty' thing as far as how the death penalty keeps violent crime down. My two cents at least...
