So your nickname is Bulldog, your favorite sport is hockey and your favorite food is venison? I smell hillbilly!
Lol, j/k.
You know, I did the quiz, and I got the exact same answers, except our 6. and 7. were reversed.

My nickname is not bulldog, that was just the best picture that came up for my answer.

My favorite food is not venison, that is a caribou.

Loves hockey and caribou meat... sounds like a canuck.
You shoulda been a mountie. Those red dress uni's are pretty sharp, even today...

Have you ever tried moose? That's my favorite meat of all time. Caribou is pretty good to, though.

I like what you found for hockey. He's cute.

Justus, for a defense attorney you sure do focus a lot on peoples' ethnic backgrounds.

First I'm a hillbilly, now I'm Canadian eh? I suppose if I told you Mrs. Smith likes collard greens, she must be black huh? Or if the little Smith likes pork fried rice, he must be Chinese? Or the middle Smith likes sushi, so he must be Japanese?

I don't know you, so I can only assume you are either very dense and judgmental, or you have a strange sense of humor and are trying to be funny.

To make the comment "I smell hillbilly", even if followed by LOL J/K, toward someone you have never met and know nothing about other than what I have posted on this blog, does not show a high level of intelligence.

I am not trying to insult or offend you. I am simply trying to figure out if you are just putting on, or if you are the stereotypical "stupid defense attorney".

Please... enlighten me.

I have never tried moose. As a matter of fact, I've never even seen a moose in person. I was a little disappointed when I went to Alaska and didn't see a moose or an orca.

A little from column A, a little from column B...
Well, what am I supposed to think when the favorite food picture shows a caribou? Who the heck eats caribou? Where is caribou sold? I have a friend who considers himself somewhat of a hillbilly, and sometimes we talk about hunting. We both agree that, if we ever lived out in the boonies, we'd take up hunting. He says venison has more flavor than beef, and I'd be all for it cause it's free (well, except for the license fees, and buying weapons, ammo, etc). But I don't think either of us thought about hunting caribou...
I didn't take that quiz, so I don't know what the choices were, but from your responses I'm guessing that you only chose that picture because it best represented 'meat'. Because it sure seems that you've never eaten caribou. But for all I knew you chose that caribou pic over a picture of a slice of pizza. I just thought it was strange that under favorite food I see an animal that is obviously not a domesticated farm animal.

And don't get me started on stupid defense lawyer stereotypes, because there are just as many stupid cop stereotypes.
I don't consider cops stupid, or stereotypically stupid. There are some who aren't ever going to be brain surgeons, true, but I'm never going to be one either, and even brain surgeons do stupid things sometimes.
I've made mistakes in my job, yes, and miscalculations. There are times when I ask myself: "How did I not think of that?" or "Why oh why did I have her testify?".
My job is hard. Your's is too, and you can't tell me you've never made mistakes either.

How about this: I won't try to make guesses about your background. Maybe you're paranoid that a defense lawyer is reading your column. Maybe you think I'm out to get you. Which could not be further from the truth. I'm from Chicago. The only reason I came upon your blog was through a link on secondcitycop.blogspot.com. I like reading his blog sometimes because I get a sense of the frustration the rank and file of CPD has with their management. Also he sometimes gives the cop's side of a media story, something that doesn't come out in the newspapers or tv. But sometimes his kvetching gets tiresome and I look at other blogs. I liked yours because I liked your posts; you actually describe some of the interactions you have on the streets, let civilians know some of the crap you have to deal with.
So, my apologies for offending you.

Justusforall,
Who the heck eats caribou? ME!! Whenever I can! And just about every Alaskan I know eats it to. No, it's not sold in stores. You can buy reindeer meat, since they are farmed. It's pretty much the same. Caribou you have to hunt yourself or be given. It's more common to be gifted with moose meat, since one moose provides too much meat for the average family to consume.

Officer Smith,
I don't know how you could've gone to AK and not seen a moose. I guess you'll just have to go again. :(

Ya know justus, I don't quite know WHAT you can tell from my responses. It would probably make much more sense to you if you heard what I was saying instead of reading what I type, but such are the drawbacks of blogging. Anywho...

1) Yes, I have eaten caribou. No I did not select the photo to represent "meat". Not all hunters are hillbillies, and not all hillbillies are hunters. I have had caribou one time, in Alaska, and I have longed for another dinner of it ever since. After going back and reading my comments to your comments, I'm really not sure where you get the idea I've never eaten caribou. If I hadn't had caribou, I would certainly not select caribou as a favorite.

2) I never said I don't make mistakes. I make mistakes on a daily basis, and I learn from them. Mistakes do not automatically an idiot make.

3) The interesting thing about stereotypes is that most people within that particular group do not match the stereotype. I didn't say I thought all defense lawyers are stupid, I simply asked if you were the stereotypical stupid defense attorney. If you aren't, just say you aren't. I am not a stereotypical stupid cop either.

4) Paranoid? According to the stereotype all cops are paranoid. Believe me. If I was paranoid, I'd have different ways of handling this. Your comments would never make it to my blog. You would not be able to figure out who I am based on this blog unless you already knew me. What have I to be paranoid about?

5) In order to better understand why I am trying to figure your intentions, I'll refer you back to one of your first posts on my blog. When someone starts out on my blog with a post I feel the need to delete based upon its inappropriate content, what exactly am I supposed to think? When someone starts out like that, am I supposed to welcome them with open arms?

6) "You know, I did the quiz, and I got the exact same answers, except our 6. and 7. were reversed."

"I didn't take that quiz, so I don't know what the choices were, but from your responses I'm guessing that you only chose that picture because it best represented 'meat'."

Well... which is it?

As I said before, sir, I do not know you. I know nothing about you other than what you have posted here. I make no assumptions, I simply comment on you comments. You will notice many of my comments have been phrased in the form of a question. This is not because I am practicing to be a contestant on Jeopardy!, but rather because I wish to give you an opportunity to answer, rather than simply respond.

I do not enjoy making people look like asses. Folks tend to have no problem doing that on their own, with no assistance from me.

And before you say it, no, I am not saying you are an ass. I am simply saying that may be the first thing that pops to a reader's mind, much like you thought my readers would think "Mexican!" when I mentioned 12 people stuffed into a car.

I do not wish to battle with you justus. I am not worried that you are out to get me. I have no such illusions. I am simply concerned that your comments are inappropriate for my blog.

I hope you continue to read and enjoy my blog if you so desire, and if you can keep your comments decent feel free to comment. Good day sir.

Oh, and Liz, YES! I suppose I AM going to have to go back to Alaska to see a moose. At this point, I would take ANY excuse to go back.

Also, Mrs. Smith knows of a place where you can order fresh caribou.

I didn't actually take the quiz, saying my 6 and 7 were switched with you was a joke:
you said your favorite food was caribou and your favorite animal was a tiger. I had them reversed. :-)
Liz, that caribou meat sounds tasty. I've only had venison one time, it was venison sausage and it was delicious. But truthfully, it was heavily salted and I probably couldn't tell the difference between that and a really good beef sausage.
Officer Smith, that's all right, I am an ass. :-)
I'll try to keep my humor more politically correct...

Now THAT'S funny! I guess I should've been paying closer attention.

I had venison (real venison, as in deer) one time, but it wasn't cured properly and it wasn't very good. I imagine if it's done right it can be quite tasty.

I'd say my second favorite would have to be elk. It's quite good in a stew.
