All Coppers Need to Read This One...

This is ridiculous. Have a gander and see if your name is there.

First of all, where do these people get off thinking they have the right to post my name and info on the internet so people can "rate me". I can see it now. The 5000 people I treat fairly will not give a second thought to this site. The 5 people who think they got the shitty end of the stick because they couldn't argue, whine or cry enough and I wrote them a ticket will be all over this.

People don't often tell their friends about the positive contacts they have with the police. But let someone get a speeding ticket, and ALL their friends know what an asshole that cop was.

I can't wait.

Oh my gosh! My mouth dropped open when I saw what this website was all about! What a great way for gangs and mobs to create a "hit list" of cops. This is a safety issue, for sure! Not to mention, what a dumb idea!!
I attempted to look up our department. Thank goodness nobody in our state seems to know about this site because nobody's names are even listed under my department or any other department in our state!! Whew!

Whoever made that site has way too much time on their hands.

I bet you can't wait until some two-bit lawyer comes walking in and telling the jury you only got 2 out of 5 stars on ratemycop.com

of course, maybe you can fire back by making a ratemycrook.com

How does this site have my name listed when our personnel roster at work doesn't even have it yet? - Despite giving it to them a couple of times.

That's a damned fine question. You might want to ask your records folks about that. I have heard they get this stuff through the freedom of information act. They just walk right into the PD and ask for it, and the PD has to give it to them. They have our newest officer listed, after just over a month.

I'm offended. I'm not on there. I guess I haven't been trying hard enough to contact the sort of bedwetting whiny-babies who would post there.

OMG where did this crap come from? Apparently we've not been eyeballed yet but this is something else. Actually, I'm a bit peeved we've not made the cut.

It's all done through the freedom of information act. A newspaper person walks into your PD and asks for the names, ranks, and last year's salary of all sworn personnel in your department. And the shitty thing is, by federal law, the department HAS to give it to them. My agency got a high mark from our local papers on this, and as a reward, all our information is posted on the internet now. I almost wish my agency had gotten an F-. Thanks a fuckin' lot, eh.
