Hey You...

Yeah, you.

Don't think I didn't see you put your seatbelt on when you saw my car.

Why do you feel like it is more of a hassle to put it on before you start driving than to have to constantly watch for me so you can hurriedly throw it on while you drive with your knee and stare at me to see if I noticed?

Then when I stop you, you want to LIE about it.

"I had it on" you say.

"I never drive without my seatbelt" you say.

Bullshit. I am not blind. I WATCHED you put it ON while you were DRIVING.

Then you try to justify it.

"I live two blocks away. I didn't have time to put it on until now." (Yes, I have actually heard that one!)

Right. Gotcha.

I have but one thing to say to you...

LIAR, LIAR PANTS ON FIRE!!!!!

I got a drunk guy once who went crazy and started yelling and swearing when I told him one of the charges was for not having his seat belt on. He didn't mind the OUI, the dope, the revoked license, or four other charges, but he couldn't handle the seatbelt violation to. And that was the least of his problems!

You can pull somebody over for not wearing a seat belt?? Cool, they can only fine you here if they stop you for something else.........I think.

My state cracks down hard on seatbelt violaters, too. I don't understand how hard it can be for someone to take 2 seconds to put it on before pulling out of the driveway/parking lot. Seatbelts save lives. And I am living proof of that!

I'm with usaincognito... they do save lives. Never ceases to amaze me how someone is able to walk away from a rollover or head on... but they do... because they were wearing the belt AND the bags deployed.

Over here in West Aust. I'm pretty sure it's a $500 fine and loss of points.
Seatbelts are your friends. I always know where mine is.

Firm believer of seatbelts here too. All you need to do is read the news, too many stories of people dying when they're ejected from their cars because they weren't wearing their1 seatbelt. Although I will confess that I usually take mine off a block from home, in anticipation of getting out of the car. I figure no one's going to crash into me at a high rate of speed a hundred feet from my driveway...
