An Interesting Tidbit About Smith...

I have held thousands of dollars in my hands, and never once have I considered keeping a nickel of it.

You bust a drug dealer today?

Been there. Nothing like responding to a fatal accident where some dead dope boy has thousands of dollars on him, or even some wino's walk-up flat where the guy's dead in bed but there's a pile of hundred dollar bills in his drawer that you find when looking for his ID.

But that's what separates us from those that we police and those who resent us. We're better than that.

Never took one cent, never will. Even if you found a million dolars and knew you could keep it and not get caught, you would just be a dirtbag with a million dollars.

My father made a statement in front of me when I was young which has served me well. "A whore is a whore. It makes no difference whether they make $10,000 a night and sleep with presidents or make $20 a trick and sleep with drunks. One may have more money and smell better but in the morning when she wakes up and looks in the mirror she is still looking at a whore."

The same thing would apply to thieves.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I don't work in law enforcement, but
I used to work at a job where I handled LARGE amounts of cash -- and I have to say, security was fairly lax. I too never, ever once considered taking a single dime.

Because it was such large amounts and it wasn't mine or ever going to be mine, after awhile I stopped seeing real money and kind of thought of it as Monopoly money. It was just paper with no real value. Weird huh?
