Election '08...

We're fucked.

I'm really having to convince myself that moving to Canada is not a viable option.

Yes. We. Are.

Can I come with you? We've had a socialist government for 10 years and look just where they have dragged this once-great country.

Dammit, we've survived Pearl Harbor and 9/11. We can get through four years of Obongo and Omarosa in the White House. Soon they'll be a bad memory just like Carter and Clinton.

Keep the faith, and clean out the gun stores.

We'd be happy to have the "Smiths" and friends come to Canada .

I plan on staying and seeing what happens. The Nation has a chance to get back to something great and move away from being one of the world's "Bully Nations".

I am not giving up the ship. I will go down fighting.

I specifically applied for my concealed weapons permit last month because I saw this coming. My great grandfather immigrated here from Ireland during the potato famine. My great grandmother was Native American. It’s in my blood to stand and fight (for my constitutional rights) which is exactly what I intend to do. Our country made it through one Carter, we can make it through a second.

Election?

Nobody told me!

Mrs "Smith" are you being serious?

America just got done freeing almost 50 million people from the likes of Saddam Hussein and the Taliban. We almost single-handedly saved the world from Communism and lately we saved (and helped) hundreds of thousands of people during the Tsunami in 2004, not to mention all the other stuff we've done around the world. I know, because I've been a part of it.

Seriously, you think we're one of the world's "Bully Nations"?

Un-fricking-believable.

Got any more popcorn, Michael? This could get interesting...

It can get pretty heated when we talk politics. Not always, but occasionally.

We agree point for point on probably a majority of issues. But when we hit one of those that we disagree on, it's like polar opposites.

Oddly enough, I'm not ultra right conservative, and she's not ultra left liberal. We're both kinda moderate on most things.

Most things...

Bronze, we may have made them free, but we also destabilized a whole region. We went in under false pretenses because Georgie-boy and crew wanted a war.
We didn't "save" the world from Communism, it fell apart in Eastern Europe under it's own weight. Last time I checked, it was still in place in China and Cuba.

And, yes, dear Bronze, with the threats we make about attacking Russia, and our continued support of Israel using the force it does to continually oppress anothe group of people, without forcing both parties to the table to talk,(which we could do, if we really wanted to), I do consider us a bully nation. Maybe not as much as others, but we are.
Try reading Queen Noor's book, "leap Of Faith". It will give you a different perspective...also watch something other than Fox "News".

BTW, Chicken, where did you get the idea President Elect Obama, (I love the sound of that!), is a "closet Muslim"?

The whole region is "destabilized"? Really? 13 of 18 Iraqi provinces are under Iraqi control and combat casualties are down to a bare trickle.

What other countries in the ME are more unstable than when we went into Iraq? I certainly haven't seen any. You mean Saudi Arabia? Nope. Qatar? Try again. Egypt? Pretty quiet there. Maybe UAE and Jordan? Nope pretty stable there too. Kuwait? Same as it's always been (except in 1991). Syria and Lebanon? Nope, pretty much the same as they've been for the last 30 years. Yemen or Iran? Yep, always been unstable. So where exactly in the ME is it so "unstable" since we invaded Iraq?

Please tell me the "false pretenses" that we went into Iraq under. Maybe it was the numerous UN sanctions that Saddam defied? Nope. Maybe it was the WMD that EVERYONE in the world thought were there? Not quite, since you can neither prove nor disprove that they were there, since we've only found small amounts. Not to mention that you can't really prove a negative, can you? Was it al Qaeda linked to Iraq? Certainly there's plenty of information to say that al Qaeda was operating in Iraq prior to the invasion. But of course the Bush administration has never said that Saddam was involved in 9/11.

While it's true that the USSR collapsed, it's also true that had we not been there, you'd most like be speaking Russian now or you'd have never have been born. To say that we had nothing to do with saving the world from Communism and that it collapsed on it's own is disingenuous at best. BTW, you forgot No. Korea. So yeah, Communism has worked out well for the remaining three countries, their dictatorships not with standing...

When was the last time we threatened to attack Russia? Israel continually oppressing the Palestinians? Really? You mean that group of oppressed people that are continually killing Israeli's via rockets, missiles, rockets and suicide-bombers? I guess in your world, the Israeli's started it, so the Pali's are just "defending" themselves. Sorry, but the truth is far different from the info you get from the Daily Kos and Democratic Underground.

Thanks for the book recommendation, but I think I'll pass on Lisa Halaby's book about a wealthy, elite schooled and bred girl that has an affinity for Arabs and then marries an Arab King, all the while not liking Jews very much and basically saying that everything in the ME was honky-dory until Israel came into existence.

BTW, I don't watch Fox News any more. And maybe you should get your news from somewhere other than MSNBC and CNN.

I have no doubt that O'Bama will make everything better...

Funny how we can be on the same planet, but live in 2 different worlds.

Maybe if we all band together the moving company would give us a better rate.

TheBronze said...

Mrs "smith", you're certainly right about about that!

Liberals (like you) think that America is a "bully nation" and the cause of most of the world's ills. Conservatives (like me) think that America is a force for good in the world (despite our many shortcomings).

It's funny how most Liberals would rather live somewhere else, but everybody else in the world wants to live here.

Two different worlds indeed.
