Society Sucks...

What bottomless pit has "society" become?

This is from a news item today out of New York:

- Witnesses told the Daily News that before the store was closed, eager shoppers streamed past emergency crews as they worked furiously to save the worker's life.

"They were working on him, but you could see he was dead," said Halcyon Alexander, 29. "People were still coming through." -

==========================

Human life has become so worthless these days that people will walk, no... more likely they ran, past a dying person, whose situation was caused by the crowd in the first place.

The great, unwashed, bargain hunting masses care so much for their chance at purchasing a 50" plasma television, they are willing to walk over and kill anyone who gets in their way.

Many of them were probably not even there for the television. That $2 DVD, or that $15 shop-vac, or that $10 necklace are worth more than a human life.

This is only one of the many reasons I won't shop at Mall-Wart. Not only does the company treat their employees like dirt, the stampeding shoppers do as well.

Not that this is a phenomenon unique to Walmart.

This speaks to the lack of value for other human lives in today's society. All of those folks might as well have been gawking at a drive-by...

People don't care.

No the pregnant lady didnt miscarry. She was 8 months pregnant the news said and was taken to the hospital for observation and her and baby were doing fine.

It is so sad and disgusting what people will do tho. This isnt the REAL REASON for the season!

The employee was a temp also. Said he was a temp maintaince worker.

I'm glad I did what little shopping I could do at home. I have no car to get around right now.

I spent fifteen years in retail. Where I saw such animal antics quite often.

It's ironic how we 'civilised westerners' look at far away images of pilgrims all crushing each other to get to some shrine or the other, or desperate to get closer to some holy relic, and we think, 'Those people are crazy'. Look at them all caught up in their religious fervour! Look at how some of them are trampled to death in the rush. We would never behave like that!

Er, yeah, we do ... and for a fecking television.

Adding to the horror: when told the store was closing due to the death, some shoppers yelled that they had "been in line for hours." ??? It's amazing that even with the economy crashing, people have lost total perspective on what really matters.

As GM pointed out, the story later turned out to be false, the mom and baby were fine. I found that out way after posting about what I originally heard. Sorry for the wrong info. Blame the MSM.

"Officer Smith" YOU hit the nail RIGHT on the head! I used to live on Long Island. That mall, in recent years is a hellhole. The area used to be quite nice, 'Valley Stream' was once an upscale area. Now, pardon my French, 'ANIMALS' live there. It's the place to go if you want to get robbed; one of the more dangerous places to go, especially if you're white.

I hate to say that, but it's true.

Wal-Mart is to blame. They KNEW there were over a thousand people waiting on line. They should have called Nassau County PD and had tons of cops on hand... with riot gear.

Equally sickening was the fact that during the melee, when customers were IN the store shopping and were told by store personell to STOP shopping and to to the front of the store because there had been a death, some REFUSED.... saying they'd been on line all night!

What IS WRONG with people?

There's people and then there are ANIMALS and these 'people' are animals!
