Facebook...

I have recently been sucked into the supermassive black hole that is Facebook.

And I can't escape it.

Yes, it's a great way to keep current with family and friends. Yes, it's a way to catch up with people you haven't seen in years. It's definitely a useful resource, but...

Then there are the games. The sweet, addictive games.

I cannot escape the pull of Mafia Wars, and Farmville has hold of me and will not let go.

Do I need help?

Yes, you need help.

Would you like me to fertilize your farms?

lol...

Welcome to the club.

Farmville is one of the greatest games ever made. And it is indeed a black hole. But it's way better than Myspace.

Dude. Run. Now. Pirates and Mafia Wars sucked away more valuable time. It's the poor man's XBox 360...and the graphics suck!

Mafia Wars is so entertaining. When my LEO husband came home one night I said to him "I killed someone tonight". There was a long pause before he said anything, then he asked "in the game?" To which I replied "Of course honey." I had to laugh. I am not addicted to the game, I can quit anytime I want....

I'm not sure which is worse, knowing I'll be sucked into the games if I join, or my not-so-irrational fear of tying my face, name, and email together on he web.

Have you discovered the "cop gifts" yet? :)

Yes, I'd say you and a number of my colleagues need help.

Maybe I can get a 12-step program group set up on Facebook.

What do you think of THAT? :)

Let me know when you're a level 180-something Mafioso. In Moscow. Then you'll see TRUE addiction! :)

I don't think you need help... but the best way for me to get out of the games after I got sucked in was taking a boating/camping trip (you know, no wifi or anything) where I couldn't play for a few days. Once I got out of the cycle, it was easy to not get sucked back in.

Nah, just revel in the addiction. That's what I do with Cafe World & Happy Aquarium.

It ain't called "crackbook" for nuthin'. I personally have stayed away. The internet is addictive enough.

Meadowlark: I'm only level 160-something, give me a few more weeks.

Firelady: That's why my profile is only visible to friends.

Damsel: Yes, and other cop type things.

Others: Yes, I'd love to link to you all and be able to work each other's farms and mafias. If it wasn't for trying to keep my true identity and my pseudonym separate....

Whoops...sorry about the multicomments. Got trapped in an endless cluster of logging in, verifying and wondering why my internet was acting up. D'oh!

I'm just amazed at how many people I know. I do get annoyed by those game notices and invitations. PITA, IMO.

Too bad I cannot lure you into being my neighbor in my Farmville!! I don't think you need help as I'm also addicted... although I sometimes wishes facebook doesn't exist as I have two toddlers to raise...

FARMVILLE?! Gawd, one of *those* people:) I'm thoroughly convinced the only people who like farmville are people who have never had to work on a REAL farm...

I just started Facebook, too, about a week ago. My sister and mom dragged me into doing it. I don't play the games...but I have reconnected with a ton of old college friends. :)
