On Parenting...

I used to believe bad people were a product of bad parenting.  I no longer believe this.  I have seen children of some of the best parents I know become filthy pieces of shit.

Something else is going on in our society that is creating these bad apples.  It could be the glorification of violence in the movies and music.  It could be the lack of respect for others that is seen in a large portion of the population.  It could be a lack of common sense.  It could be a difference in what they are teaching in our schools.

I don't know what it is, but I am convinced it is not all bad parenting.

Maybe there really is something in the water...

The sad truth is that there have always been bad apples.

You can find things written a hundred years ago about how society is full of criminals and badly mannered children and every word fits to today.

I think that the simple difference is population. When 1 in 1000 people is bad, and your local population is 2500 people, then you have little problem. When your local population is 750000, suddenly you have a lot of problems.

Perhaps there are some common characteristics? We could try to define some. I just became a parent and this is especially interesting to me now :)
I have friend that came from both rich and poor backgrounds, but I don't have any bad apple friends.
