I love Virginia and Washington DC, where possession of a detector alone is grounds for a ticket...or in DC, an arrest.
"So here's your speeding ticket... hitting the brakes AFTER your detector went off didn't do you much good, did it? By then I already knew how fast you were going. Oh--and here's your ticket for possession of a radar detector. I'll also be keeping the detector as evidence. Have a nice day."
can a police officer detect whether its a radar detector?
I ask because i use a gps system that mounts to the windshield like some of the radar detectors.. i always worry i'm going to get pulled over.
Radar detectors automatically mean you get the full speed you were going. No breaks.
I have a failsafe system for avoiding police, completely legal in VA and cost-free in every state. It has served me well for the past 6 years, the entirety of my driving career.
Rule 1: Don't speed.
Rule 2: Remember rule 1.

I think there are radar detector detectors out there, but I've never seen one. Probably because radar detectors are completely legal in California.

Nope, not dash bling. I went back to my car to scratch the ticket and I turned the radar on to transmit. I watched him reach up and turn the detector off. What a dummy.
Would the outcome have been any different, traffic-ticket-wise, if he had had no radar detector?
47 in a 25? Nope. He was getting a ticket.
