"Aggressive driving" is all the rage in the "Yay Area" these days.
In case you're wondering, aggressive drivers are the drivers you see doing 90 on the freeway, moving from lane to lane through traffic without signals, tail-gating, brake-checking, and generally making an ass of themselves.
When I was learning to drive this behavior was not acceptable, much less commonplace. Nowadays I cannot drive on the freeways 'round 'ere without seeing several of these idiots in a 20 minute trip.
Best I can figure is that this aggressive driving mindset has risen from the sense of entitlement and lack of caring inherent in the youth of this modern age. Most people in the bay area under the age of about 25 have been raised to believe the world is theirs to do with as they please.
On a recent traffic stop I was told by a non signal using driver that this is a free country, and now that Obama is the president he could do whatever he wanted.
Great. So now we are all free to barrel down the freeway without regard for the speed limit, never signaling our intentions to the other oblivious drivers surrounding us, with our marijuana smoke and obscenely loud rap music pouring out the windows of our $500 Buick with $4000 worth of 22" rims and another $4000 worth of sound system, and there's nothing the cops can do to stop us?
Yeah. Guess again buddy...

*sigh*
We've had a lot of that since the election outcome too.
Best detail I ever had was a year assigned to root these cretins out--I had an unmarked car and no assignments other than the broad directive of "find and cite aggressive drivers".
Much fun, and very, very satisfying. Sadly, they were never hard to find, and I was suprised at the wide demographic spread--everything from young punk male teens to old women in luxury cars.
I love how everyone has the mentality that they can do whatever they want now that Obama is President. WTH?!
I've always found that the most aggressive drivers are Mustang drivers. Piss me off every time. Of all the places I've lived, Michigan was the worst, though.
Wait until the depression hits and those stupid punks have to eat cat food to survive.
"Most people in the bay area under the age of about 25 have been raised to believe the world is theirs to do with as they please."
i dont think you should insinuate that they are all young, rap music loving punks. I know someone EXACTLY like this. He is a 58 year ole white guy. He is my friend. He cant stand rap music, hates punks, drug dealers, etc. But he drives around all day yelling at slow tourists, careening around them ruining his gas mileage, and scaring the bejesus out of me, if i am in the car with him.
If they break the law, give them a ticket.. It's all you can do..
But it is too bad you can't just smack them in the back of the head!! It might not do them any good, but I'd get a great deal of satifaction out of seeing it done!! :):)
My husband's remarks, after I read this entry to him, was (speaking as you) "Great! Now I'm free to write you a $6,000 ticket and pocket the rest!" Would be interesting to hear these idiots reasons why they can do whatever illegal thing they want but you can't! LOL
Cite them all! The "ghost graphics are becoming popular n my area. We love them. white on white, black on black, They look so cool....
But wait... Obama is going to save me!!! He is going to pay for my way... Isn't he???
Oh crap I already gave my notice.. I've been sitting by the door waiting for the mailman to bring me my check!!! No wonder the mailman keeps looking at me funny...
Oh for the love of everything good.. They need to move out of California... No wait.. They can stay..I want out!!!! They can have the mess they created!

Mr. Woycechowsky,
I have finally done it. I've gotten fed up with you and deleted your posts.
If you continue to post links to "news" post that have absolutely nothing to do with the current post, I will block you completely.
Every link you have placed in my comments section has been about a crash with "questions" as to why the officer was driving so fast, why the officer was not wearing his seatbelt, or otherwise demonizing that officer.
You, sir, are done.
If you want to post such negative comments about cops, do it on your own blog.
Maybe someone who is interested in patent lawyer stuff will find their way over there and read your anti-cop schlock.
Sounds like CA drivers are not much different than IA drivers.
My thanks to you and to all the other officers who read this for busting aggressive drivers. And I mean it. These people threaten everyone around them and see nothing wrong with their behavior.
I do not understand. You post a post against people who drive to fast and are dangerous. I post some links about people who drove too fast and hurt people from recent news (not "news") stories. Seems on-topic to me.
The people in my news (not "news") stories happen to be policemen. So what? Policemen are people too. It doesn't make my posts off-topic or irrelevant or anything else bad.
Oh, and if you have some reason to defend the policeman who was going 109 mph on a 45 speed limit road, the it seems like the thing to do is let us know why you consider that acceptable rather than having a tantrum and deleting my link. What is it that you are afraid of?
David, what is there for you not to understand.
I have taken notice of your propensity to post "news" links that call into doubt the actions of police officers. I still maintain that you are not doing so in an effort to emphasize my points, but rather to demonize police officers.
It is very convenient that you post three separate "news" (not news) links on my blog, all of which cast blame upon a police officer without providing all of the details of the incident. All of them have several "it is not known" and "information was unavailable" grey areas which do not allow me or anyone else to make an informed decision regarding the incidents. You fail, however, to post any corresponding links to the story of the drunk teenager who killed three of his friends, along with four people in the other car, because he was too ignorant to avoid driving while he was intoxicated.
You do not know me, David, and you have never seen me have a tantrum. I am not two years old.
As for "defending" the police officers, I have done no such thing. All I have done is remove the incomplete and accusatory "news" (not news) links from MY blog.
I am afraid of nothing you can send my way, Mr. Woycechowsky.
I simply refuse to allow MY blog to become your anti-police forum.
Again, I will refer you back to your own blog for such activity.
1. I posted two links. The first one seemed to have been cut off by the blogger software, so I "tiny URL'd" it and put that up.
2. Your blog is about police and safety. We discuss police and safety here. My blog is about patents and the Court Of Appeals For The Federal Circuit. We discuss those issues there.
"I posted two links. The first one seemed to have been cut off by the blogger software, so I "tiny URL'd" it and put that up."
To avoid any misunderstand, let me clarify this:
--I posted two links. The SECOND one seemed to have been cut off by the blogger software, so I "tiny URL'd" it and put the SECOND link up agian in a TinyURL format that could be used by our readers--
