Most officers have one or two things for which they are known among other officers. Mine is that I am quite good at locating stolen vehicles.
I have several 10851 awards to back up that statement.
I don't know why I find them so often. Maybe it's luck. Maybe it's skill. Maybe they just find me. I don't really know. I have only located one with LoJack. The remainder have all been stumbled upon, fair and square.
Other officers often roll by while I'm fingerprinting a stolo and say "Damn Smith! Another one?"
The most I have found in one week was four, with two in the space of about an hour and a half.
My favorites are the occupied stolen cars. Most of these haven't led to pursuits. Just a long and drawn out felony stop, bringing all of the occupants out at gunpoint and taking them into custody.
Some officers are good at finding guns. Some officers find lots of dope. My forte is stolen vehicles.
There's really no point to this post. Just a little tidbit about Smith...

Well, at least we know who to call should we find ourselves saying "where-in-the-hell-is-my-car?" one day!! :):):)
Thank God for men like you with the ability to find stolen things. And lock up the thieves.
Stolens..I love finding them too. An occupied stolen is a sure way to get the BP up!
Mind you, I'm a K9 officer, so we're always called to the mobile stolens in case the driver tries to dump the car and flee on foot. But alas, our crooks up here are quiet afraid of the police dogs, so most give up when they hear the dog bark. :(
It's always nice to brag a little bit sometimes. :)
Do you have one of those automatic scanner thingees?
Yup, mine is Guns, dont ask me why.
We have two us this dept that find nothing but stolens. Kinda funny how that works.
Be Safe!
I loved it when you found the car while I was on a ride along with you. I need to ditch the kids and do that again.
I'm just a sh*t magnet for the guys. Oops.
